Today, 10th March, marked the Silver Jubilee celebrations of St Jude Lukaya Parish, and what was supposed to be a joyous occasion took a fiery turn as political leaders Joel Ssenyonyi, Catherine Ndiwalana, and Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja engaged in a verbal duel over corruption allegations.

The event, which was attended by prominent figures like; Minister Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja, Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi, Catherine Ndiwalana, and Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, unfolded in a dramatic manner.

Masaka Diocesan Bishop Serverus Jjumba led the mass, setting a festive atmosphere until the microphone found its way into the hands of Leader of the Opposition, Joel Ssenyonyi. In a video circulating on NBS Television and social media, Ssenyonyi directly addressed Prime Minister Nabbanja, accusing the government of rampant corruption that could lead to its collapse.

Ssenyonyi specifically mentioned the Mabaati scandal, implicating Nabbanja in the controversy. The Prime Minister was quick to respond, dismissing the accusations and asserting her innocence. She vehemently denied any involvement in the Mabaati scandal and warned against labeling her as the ‘Mabaati chief.’

In a furious rebuttal, Nabbanja declared, “Stop accusing me of stealing ‘Mabaati.’ You’ve heard of Mpuuga and his colleagues who shared money among themselves. Did you hear my name there? Please stop, Ssenyonyi, and all of you Ugandans, stop calling me ‘Mabaati chief.’ I have never stolen Mabaati and never took a single iron sheet to my home.”
